KisanMarket---agriculture product online shopping in india

TGS Group, a company with diversified business interests, has launched a new website, KisanMarket.com. It underlines the objectives of ‘Wealthy Farmer, Healthy India’ and brings an innovative way to connect farmers and consumers.

In 2015, India’s GDP grew at 7.3 per cent, the agriculture sector remained stagnant at 0.2 per cent, with farm production trailing at 1.7 per cent. This clearly points out the underlying rural distress and farmers facing difficult times. In such a scenario, KisanMarket is the initiative in the right direction, providing farmers with a platform for agri marketing in India to reach the consumer directly, without the need of an intermediary. They can now sell their products at the best prices and this will bolster the rural economy, according to the TGS Group.

Many farmers, wholesalers and retail chains of agri industry are looking for this kind of solutions in India and abroad. “With KisanMarket, the agri industry will now be able to do transactions without any physical border limitations,” said Thyagaraja Rallapalli, chairman, KisanMarket, emphasising upon the need for an online marketplace connecting farmers and consumers.

The website was launched in Bengaluru by Karnataka minister for food & civil supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao. It aims at providing a hassle-free platform to the Indian farmers who have no organised way to sell their agricultural products at best prices. At the same time, the site will cater to the end-consumer who has no way to get the best and farm-fresh products at the best prices.

“We are working to add to the prosperity of the Indian farmers. The online platform brings the best in technology as it will enable selling or purchasing vegetables, fruits, cereals, spices, flowers, poultry, cattle, fish, manure, agri implements, nursery plantations, organics, cotton, wood & timber, solar products, cotton, Ayurvedic and agri real estate,” said Suresh Kumar Rallapalli, MD, KisanMarket.

It combines a comprehensive listing of farming products including harvested as well as dairy-based products and also includes a directory of companies related to agri industry to enable direct purchases by farmers.
